A Barkley-esque experience...

In the State Parks of Minnesota.

That was the dream, when a group of friends and trail running enthusiasts gathered around their collective devices to obsessively follow Twitter updates from Frozen Head State Park in Tennessee - home of the famed Barkley Marathons. Ever since the documentary first hit Netflix, we've been hooked. The appeal of such an event in our own back yard, and on the trails of our spectacular MN State Parks has driven us wild with wonder. And in 2018, for the first time, that dream became a reality, with the inaugural running of the Leaf Mountain Foot Race, run entirely in Glacial Lakes State Park.

In case you're wondering, 100 percent of proceeds from the race will go directly to the State Park! Spend one day at any Minnesota State Park, and you'll know this is a worthwhile cause!

This is not your ordinary, boring, dime-a-dozen, weekend race. Expect an old school, classic foot race, at the guidance of your own map and under the direction of the most "Minnesota Nice" volunteers (and fellow trail runners) you'll ever meet.

Do you think you have what it takes to conquer the Leaf Mountain Foot Race?
